27 Jan Northeast Driver Wren Nance earns title “International Grand Champion” at the 2020 United Motorcoach Association Expo
Nashville, TN, January 23, 2020 — Since 2017, the United Motorcoach Association has hosted the UMA International Driver Competition at the UMA Expo. This competition tests the driving and safety skills of some of the best drivers in North America. Gauging practical coach driving skills like pre-trip inspections, parallel parking and performing a blindside backup maneuver; this competition is anything but easy. That’s why operators throughout North American send their top drivers to the expo to compete for this prestigious title.
Here at Northeast Charter and Tour, we could not be happier about Wren’s performance. “We have always known that Wren was a top-notch driver, but to learn that he is now considered the best in North America, we could not be more proud,” said Scott Riccio, President or Northeast Charter and Tour.
The UMA Driver Competition of 2020 was fierce as drivers tested their knowledge of FMCSA compliance and showed their safe driving expertise. “I was surprised how intensive the competition was and how many skilled drivers I was competing against,” states Nance. Wren exhibited outstanding driving ability and safety knowledge that wowed the judges. Congratulations to Nance were extended at UMA EXPO Leadership Awards Celebration where he received a trophy, a cash prize, and recognition of his achievement. We are so excited to share and celebrate Wren’s achievement with the whole Northeast Family.
Northeast has nominated a representative for this competition for the past two years. To be named the Northeast Charter Driver of the Year a full-time Motorcoach Operator competes all year long by maintaining a zero accident record, exemplary safety and performance ratings that qualify them for not only a substantial Safety Incentive Bonus but the winner earns an all-expense paid trip for two to attend the UMA International Driver Competition.
