21 Oct Planning a Great Date for Prom Day
What one word comes to mind when you think of expensive dresses, fancy dinner, teenagers, day dates, dancing, music, pictures, boutineers and corsages? Mm hmm. Yep. Prom. For most teenagers, prom is something that they anticipate and need to think creatively about. For starters, kids nowadays do ask a date to prom in a way that is easy. Typically it involves coming up with a creative way to ask, and the person being asked must figure out who did the asking. Sometimes it’s something quite funny, sometimes it involves decorating a person’s room, and occasionally it may mean leading them on a wild goose chase for the base of it. It’s all part of the fun.
But asking is just the beginning. After a date is procured, boys will plan to go with a number of their friends and their customs, forming a set. And at that point, the real planning begins, because then you need to nail down the details for the day date on the afternoon of the dance. If you’ve got teens in your life who are in the drawing board, attempting to think of a few decent thoughts, here are six different suggestions.
GO BIG. In high school, prom is a major deal, and it is often an occasion where a great deal of money is spent for the girls when they purchase dresses, and also for the guy in renting a tux, paying for the day actions and spending money on dinner, the dancing, and pictures. Since it’s already kind of a big deal, perhaps your group does not mind spending extra money to make the date fairly impressive, also. If that is the case (and expensive activities are something which everybody in the group can manage), the sky’s the limit. What about going skydiving or paying for hot air balloon rides? The humorous thing is. . .for being such a big deal in high school, the dance itself is not something you will consider very much once it is finished. But, a hot air balloon ride, or going skydiving with a bunch of your besties from high school? That, my friends, is.
However, maybe going big simply isn’t a financial choice, also it appears to be a waste to drop that much money on a prom date. Not to worry! There are other things to do that do not cost quite as much and will nevertheless be a fantastic moment. So, our second suggestion is to GET INTO NATURE. What would you perform in character, near your property? Could you float on inner tubes or increase a local summit? Do you have a canyon close to home where the team would go rock climbing? What about reduction night skiing, river rafting, or even a day of boating on the lake?
If you do not like both of those suggestions, opt for the element of SURPRISE. Maybe the dates do not know what’s happening daily, but the boys coincide with all the girls’ parents to help pull off something like an early morning breakfast. They could go pick up the dates early in the morning, get them from bed in their pajamas, blindfold them and also take them to breakfast at a restaurant or to some thing they’ve set up in the park or at someone’s backyard. Whatever you choose to do, going for something and surprise the girls aren’t expecting will be enjoyable and exciting. (Just make sure that the girls in the group are not the kind that do not like to be removed guard, or else it could possibly be an epic fail.)
Another thought? HIT UP LOCAL ATTRACTIONS. Are you close to some renowned theme park or large water park that would easily take each the allotted time to get a date? What about making bookings in the always-packed community eatery up the canyon, the person which, with no reservations, means a 2-hour wait regardless of when you proceed? Taking advantage of what your region is well known for and has to provide is fun and will be an experience that’s true to celebrating your hometown.
What about MAKING A DIFFERENCE? Most prom dates are focused solely on pleasure, but maybe your group wants to make a huge difference. There are opportunities around for service, and a day task focused on having a positive effect is a great way to have fun together and create lasting memories. There are opportunities all about to serve, and it really just depends on what your group is interested in and making the necessary arrangements.
Lastly, you can always do something that’s TRIED AND TRUE, familiar, and consistently enjoyable. Make banana splits and watch a film. Go ice skating. Pack a picnic to the park then split into groups for ultimate frisbee or warm water balloon volleyball. Or, hold a scavenger hunt competition. Produce a list of items that every couple must do (e.g. perform an act of service, visit a fast food place and sit down to eat lunch, buy something red in the supermarket to discuss with the group if you reconvene, run or walk a mile, etc.). Have the couples meet collectively and every be presented with the list of what they need to do. Afterward, everyone divides and it’s a race to see which couple gets back (to a predetermined assembly spot). Have a prize for the few who wins.
Deciding on a day activity actually depends upon the folks that are going on your class and the interests they have, how much money they wish to invest, and how much time they must work with. We hope these suggestions give you some interesting things to consider as you are likely. And, one more thing? As soon as you’ve decided the activities for the day and day date, don’t forget to book a bus rental Maine so the entire group can drive together. . . it’ll be way more fun like that!
